Dinghy |
A small sailboat, has a centerboard/daggerboard rather than a heavy keel. |
Displacement |
A boats weight, or the weight of the water she displaces. |
DNF |
Acronym for "Did Not Finish"; a boat that starts and fails to finish a race is scored DNF |
DNS |
Acronym for "Did Not Start"; a boat entered in a race or series that failed to start the race is scored DNS |
Dodger |
Canvas shelter that keeps spray any rain from going into the companionway, at least theoretically. |
Dolly |
A device fir moving dinghies around the boatyard; a boat trailer for storage and launching of dinghies |

The measurement of how deep a boat rides in the water |
